How (Lila) came to be Kadee’s Battle Buddy
Two months ago Board Member Ed Garza, who is the Director of Veteran Services at Concordia University Wisconsin, learned that one of his female Veteran students, who was already battling Post Traumatic Stress, was now diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer. Her determination to stay in school to work on her degree and battle cancer inspired many to find ways to help her get through this challenge in her life.
With the help of our team, Memories Made Guide Service and combat Veteran Tony Haberle, a battle buddy companion was donated to this hero in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Kaydee and her fiance’ getting to know newly renamed “Lila”
Finding this battle buddy puppy for this Veteran was a monumental moment for us at Healing Patriots. Certainly, we surround our organization around fishing, however our communities, Veterans, and first responders are our first priority. Seeing the smile, and the positive outcome by utilizing our top notch resources is priceless!

The Healing Patriots Team Decision
This was an instant approval from the Healing Patriots Team when hearing from Ed Garza of the opportunity. It is something that we will all cherish. We wish Kadee well with her continued fight with her “Battle Buddy” by her side.
I am honored to have been a part of the team that presented the comfort/service dog to Kadee. It is important that we take care of those that are ensuring our freedom and safety. You can’t do what they do and not be impacted by that. I am proud to a part of Healing Patriots because of the positive impact we have in the lives of those that sacrificed for us.
